LaCa Projects is pleased to host Cuban artist Vicente Hernández for his first solo exhibition in Charlotte, Of the Real and Magnificent, featuring paintings that weave magnificent stories of escape rife with struggle and triumph, the real and the imaginary, the sadness of departure and the excitement of the journey. Hernandez is inspired by his harbor hometown of Batabanó, a once-flourishing Caribbean city that is the celestial subject of his work, a place torn apart by the devastating impact of natural and human ravages.
In Hernández’s words, “the journey is their challenge, even if this calling stops being an idea that the travelers inherited from past generations.”
