Latin American Contemporary Art Projects, Charlotte’s newest art gallery, is proud to present Disruption, featuring five, large-scale works by emerging Argentine artist Santiago Quesnel. These oil paintings reveal Quesnel’s pictorial research in nature, and portray images from an imaginary self that are generated at the intersection of the record, experience and memory. His masterful creations of natural scenes disrupted by the aberrant and unnatural create a jarring experience, only to draw the witness further into their dream-like, ethereal qualities. Quesnel evokes an overwhelming sense of curiosity in his works that is balanced beautifully by quality and depth.
Santiago Quesnel, born in 1975, is a painter who currently lives and works in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He studied filmmaking at Universidad de Buenos Aires prior to taking up painting at the age of 20. Quesnel is part of a strong group of emerging artists in Argentina, often participating in group critic seminaries and teaching painting to young children. He has had solo shows in Centro Cultural Recoleta, Jardin Oculto and the Florida Art Center, and has participated in numerous group exhibitions. His works are in private collections across the world, including France, England, the United States, Spain, Uruguay, and Argentina.
